Old Programme 2009/2010

West Auckland District Tramping Club holds evening walks on Wednesday evenings when New Zealand daylight saving time is in effect.
The summer 2009/2010 evening walks programme ran from Wednesday 30th September 2009 through to Wednesday 31st March 2010.

30 Sep	Celebrate the arrival of Daylight Saving by letting Pam take you for a walk up dead end street and environs. Meet at the Kelson Community Centre car park. It might pay to bring a torch, you never know what might be lurking.
7 Oct	Green Bay	7:00 pm	Val E
7 Oct	Val will be taking a walk around the Green Bay area. Meet outside Pinesong Retirement Village in Avonleigh Road.
14 Oct	Titirangi Area	6:45 pm	Pam
14 Oct	Pam will be taking a trip around the Titirangi Area. Meet in the Titirangi Library car park.
21 Oct	Avondale Historic Walk	7:00 pm	Peter T
21 Oct	Meet at Peter's place in Avondale and learn about the history of Avondale while taking a walk around the highways and byways of one of Auckland's oldest suburbs. Cuppa at Peter's place afterwards.

28 Oct	Meet in the car park of the old Nihotupu Treatment Plant on the corner of Scenic Drive and Woodlands Park Road. Bring a torch.

4 Nov	Meet at Massey Community House, 385 Don Buck Road, where Jill will take us for a walk around the “urban fringe” and taking in Red Hills Road and Birdwood Road.

11 Nov	Meet outside St Marks Church at 95 Remuera Road (near St Marks Road) and Roy will take us on a two-hour walk around Remuera. He says, TRUST ME, there will be a coffee stop at the end.

18 Nov	Meet at Green Bay Beach car park at the end of Portage Road for a walk with Denise along the cliffs to Blockhouse Bay and return to make a circuit.

25 Nov	Meet at the Mission Bay fountain for a walk around this very scenic area. Wendy will have undoubtedly organised a coffee stop at the end, of course.

2 Dec	Meet at Linda's place for a walk around the Glendene area. Supper at Linda's place to follow.

9 Dec	Meet outside the road entrance to the Waitakere Dam on Scenic Drive. Take a walk down to the Dam and along part of the Tramline. This area now lies within Ark in the Park and, hopefully, there should be some early evening birdlife.

16 Dec	Meet in the public car park near Sails Restaurant, Westhaven for a walk around Ponsonby to look at this year’s collection of Christmas lights in Franklin Road.

23 Dec	Meet at the Ellerslie Railway Station at 6:30pm to catch the 6:45pm train to Newmarket. Walk back to Ellerslie via Mt Hobson, Mt St Jon and Cornwall Park. Takes approximately two hours. Parking available in Kalmia Street, which gives easy access to the station.

30 Dec	Meet at the carpark on the corner of Titirangi Rd and Margan Ave at Club Physical. Take in the local parks and reserves and finish off at the Christmas lights in Skilgate Ave.

3 Feb	Meet at Marina View Drive at Luckens Reserve (at Marina View School) for a walk around the West Harbour area.

10 Feb	Meet at the Newmarket West Railway station at 7.00pm to walk through the parks and byways to Britomart. If you wish to travel the whole way by train, catch the train from out west which arrives at Newmarket West at 6.52pm. Return to Newmarket or out west on the 8.52pm train.

17 Feb	No, Peter is not essentially leading a religious crusade, but come along and learn a little about the different religious venues in Avondale. We will hopefully visit a Buddhist retreat, complete with monks and prayer flags. Marvel at the architecture of a majestic Hindu Temple and oass various other religious establishments. It may pay to bring a spare pair of trousers or sarong to slip on and a long-sleeved shirt. Meet at Peter’s place.

3 Mar	Meet in the observatory car park for an early evening walk around Cornwall Park and up and up One Tree Hill.

10 Mar	Meet in Miromiro Streert, which is off Kyle Road which runs off Schnapper Rock Road, and take a walk around the area. Somewhere different.

24 Mar	Meet at the corner of Stoddard and Sandringham Roads for a walk along the new walkway alongside the motorway to Mt Roskill, then around Keith Hay Park and back.
